Sometimes we encounter experiences that so violate our sense of safety, order, predictability, and right,

that we feel utterly overwhelmed—unable to integrate, and simply unable to go on as before.

Unable to bear reality.

We have come to call these shattering experiences trauma.

None of us is immune to them.

There is some relief in the knowledge that I cannot go on as before. In essence, it means that there will also be an end to the traumatic incident(s). The biggest issue is HOW will one learn to move forward from this place and time. Self work, tremendous grit, and an intense desire to live differently must sustain in the absence of friends and family.
