We risk so much for impermanent things, external accomplishments, external approval, status, power, influence, credibility, etc.
We chase pleasure until it is exhausted, then we turn to distraction.
We keep busy in many ways, physically, emotionally, surround ourselves with people, play games, watch TV, gamble, sex etc. or a combination of these.
When pleasure turns hollow and sadness takes hold, severe depression or addiction maybe a companion.
That content feeling about yourself and life (happiness) does not exist in this atmosphere.
It exists inside ourselves.
It is a way of being, of living.
That feeling of content, calm within myself took many hours of practice.
It took sitting still, quiet as a mouse, facing my demons in meditative focus.
It can be arduous at times, setbacks happen, healing does not give up her bounty to the faint of heart.
Adversity is a companion on our healing path, it is not easy!
It has been the most satisfying endeavor of my life, the most rewarding.
Any thoughts?

Thoughts?
Yeah, I want you to know, Marty, that when I discovered this blog, I was a total victim of my C-PTSD.
It was raw and rancid, and it was having its way with me the way a cat does a mouse. I was F**ked. Well, in additioin to seeing a top notch psychologist weekly, and the discovery of a GREAT book called “Complex PTSD – From Surviving to Thriving” —- your blog has helped me see that I cannot wait for it to pass, but I must boldly push on through this BS.
From your words of wisdom and experience, I have found so much strength. I am no longer a victim of the stuff that happened to me, but a person who is healing and getting stronger (and more normal, for what it’s worth).
THANK YOU x1,000,000.
Mick
