Sometimes in quiet moments,

Sometimes in quiet moments, I focus all my awareness on the thoughts and judgments my mind flashes in front of me.

In this mode, I observe the tendencies and repetitive schemas that it values most.

It sure seems that childhood trauma, a feeling of danger dominate these repetitive scenarios.

In the past I reacted to these fears, with avoidance, denial, thinking how to overcome, or freezing.

As you would expect, things got more intense, worse.

I tried to eliminate these thoughts, but that well never runs dry.

Being familiar with my inner world, it’s inner workings and repetitive nature, allows me to discount the noise.

Being able to focus intently, totally engulfed by my senses, brings me back to now.

This space feels safer, much calmer, uncluttered.

My mind focused, going slow, empty of thought soothes my nerves, calms my anxiety.

I am aware of the simplicity of this space.

Does awareness come first or slowing the speed of our mind?
