Three days before Christmas, after five at night, a process server knocked on our door. The hospital was serving a garnishment claim from an emergency room, ICU visit.
Let me ask your opinion on the way our hospitals are treating us. What is the rationale in this example.
A single mom with three kids under six has to quit her career, her job because of garnishments from the local hospital.
She can not afford to pay the babysitter with what is left of her check. How do you pay rent or buy food? Does illness sentence us to poverty. A family to homelessness?
Does a family deserve annihilation because of illness?
Are these doctors and hospitals healers?
A recent front page article, detailed how the corporately owned hospital made record profits.
An illness these days can destroy not only you but your whole family.
With excellent insurance, I am still making payments for my Guillian Beret illness, ICU stay from two full years ago.
Deductibles can run over $10,000 now.

So Sorry to hear this egregious news.
As incompetent as doctors and hospitals are, you are lucky to both still be alive…And NO, this is not acceptable to me. The fact that corporations have taken over the government to run it for profit at the expense of the working class, to build a world empire is not acceptable to me. The health care bill was a huge handout to insurance companies at everyone’s expense.
There is a Vet here in WA state…he got married to his partner of 20 years, and the VA cut him off because she earns too much at $20K a year. He is battling stage 4 cancer……apparently Obamacare isn’t doing him much good either.
This is what happens in a society where institutions owned by a handful of wealthy billionaires have more rights than anyone else.
The righteous anger that would galvanize the masses into acting on their own behalf have been anesthetized by the constant stream of propaganda, divisiveness and alienation.
Being at peace with yourself is good..being at peace with an oppressive system is not.
Is there any way you could get a group of you together with similar complaints and bang on the door of your representative until you get some assistance?
Try to get alternative news interested in picking up the story.(it could help)

I am sorry to hear this, Marty. No,it’s not acceptable.
There are fundraisers online such as http://www.gofundme.com where your daughter can explain what is going on, and she may get lucky, and have generous people make donations to pay off the bill. I have an online friend who is a tattoo artist who lost her business recently due to a fire at her shop, and has raised over $2,000 in donations.
