The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes. – Marcel Proust

.
What a thought provoking sentence. Changing where we place our attention comes to mind as a way to accomplish this task.
.
New eyes would be ones without the baggage of past failures, criticisms or vulnerabilities.
.
Just think of standing today with all our past faded, then opportunity and enthusiasm would excite our nervous system and soul.
.
A brand new us, no history or doubt, just amazement as a baby seeing trees for the first time. Nothing in memory banks can explain the vastness of a forest to a four month old.
.
Yesterday my four month old grandson was riveted by the size and color of large trees. Amazed and without anything in the past to explain these tall massive trunks, he is enthralled.
.
This is beginners mind, the moments before a cognitive thought comes into consciousness to describe or name a brand new experience.
.
We strive to get back to this early stage of life filled with wonderment and joy, even bliss.
.
mindfulness/meditation strives to take us back to these purely amazing moments of life.

No history, no doubt! Amazing experience being with a baby and witnessing their ‘firsts’ wonderment, joy. Wake up call to stop and smell the roses!
